The voters have spoken!

-

paulDSC_4913During his Election Night victory party at the Judd Kendall VFW Post, Paul Hinterlong, center, received good wishes from Mike Van Poucke and Ron Davidson upon his re-election to Naperville City Council. Hinterlong’s candidacy resulted in the highest number of votes, 12,465, in the Naperville Consolidated Election.

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Thanks to every qualified candidate who ran in the Consolidated Election. Thanks also to everyone who went to the polls as an educated voter to voice your choices!

Editor’s Note: Here’s hoping that during the next local election, a higher number of voters will plan to engage more of your Naperville family, friends and neighbors to participate in opportunities to meet and personally greet the candidates. All qualified and dedicated candidates deserve our attention and consideration with an informed vote for the best future we can put forward. We hope candidates who came up short this time will continue to find ways to serve our community until they can run next time.

Thanks to all who ran positive campaigns in support of the spirit of this remarkable community that welcomes its citizens to become active and involved. Congratulations to all!

Update! City Councilman Steve Chirico, founder and owner of Great Western Flooring, announced this week that he plans to run for Mayor in 2015. Mayor Pradel said after the last election that he will not seek a fifth term.

PN Ombudsman
An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
