From one year to the next, we’re faced with issues! At least 12 of them! Here comes May.
Spring’s late arrival, unthinkable happenings across the nation and news from friends and neighbors who experienced challenges from the torrential rain topped the list in April. Folks reported everything from buckling laminated wood flooring to three inches of sewage to four feet of water in their basements caused by April’s showers, creating many reasons to step back and count our blessings that some things like warmer days and sunshine are predictable as we strive to present the bright side of the news.
As we look toward observing Memorial Day on May 27, we’re mindful that the merry month of May also provides time to remember Mother’s Day and graduations. Celebrate safely.
But mostly, we’re hopeful everyone will take time to remember all the men and women who have served in the military. Too many have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we may freely and peacefully assemble to attend parades, summer band concerts and picnics in the pavilions as the days grow longer and we yearn to spend more time outdoors.
City Council Inauguration
At 2PM Sun., May 5, the public is invited indoors to watch the inauguration of the recently elected City Councilmen in Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center. Watch from the audience or live on TV as newcomer Dave Wentz, along with re-elected incumbents Judith Brodhead, Paul Hinterlong and Douglas Krause are sworn in during the ceremony. Brodhead and Hinterlong have served on the City Council since 2009 and Krause has served since 1989.
