Dry Out! Explore the power of Mother Nature, digitally, at www.positivelynaperville.com.

Stories of neighbors helping neighbors and all the residents of all ages who filled sand bags remind us of the American spirit of volunteerism that connects us from sea to shining sea. Certainly unthinkable events of this past week have created more than one dramatic and devastating happening to remember throughout this great nation in our ever-changing world.

The Riverwalk! Water has receded in downtown Naperville along the Riverwalk, though some sections of the winding brick path continue to be impassable.  The DuPage River continues to be high and rapidly heading around the bend of the western branch as it travels through Naperville. Maintenance and clean-up crews have been busy marking areas for visitors to avoid.

Caution! Yellow & Red Tape! Still, be cautious. Pay attention to all of the yellow and red caution tape barriers that signify “Stop.”  Don’t lean on railings.

Stay clear of high water areas. Always respect the power of rushing water.

DuPage River! Waters still are not low enough for canoe or kayak travelers to venture under bridges along the DuPage River. Waters are rushing so fast that that it’s not a good time for recreational canoeing.  Weather events such as the one just experienced in Chicagoland are teachable times for adults to talk to youngsters about the ravages that can come from Mother Nature.
