Message to the 21st District Community from State Senator Mike Connelly
Although I am on the floor of the State Senate in Springfield, I have been in contact with the Governors office and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) regarding the rising floodwaters in our district.
My legislative Chief of Staff has contacted many of the mayors in the District to assess conditions. Many of the municipal officials are understandably busy dealing with the emergency conditions, but heres what we know:
Lisle has declared a State of Emergency and is providing updates on its Web site. The police station has been evacuated to the village hall; however, residents can still call (630) 271-4200 if they need assistance.
Benedictine University’s Krasa Center is now being used as a shelter for those who are unable to return to their homes.
Naperville has created a Flood Operations Update link on its website, which includes a map of which roads are closed.
IEMA has asked me to alert residents of DuPage County that they should contact the DuPage County Department of Homeland Security at (630) 682-7925 with requests for assistance.
This is a time when we all need to work together. Please take a moment to check on your neighbors, particularly older residents who might need help responding to this flooding emergency.
