The voters have spoken. Yes! They have spoken.
During a victory party at the Judd Kendall VFW Post immediately after the polls closed Tuesday, Paul Hinterlong, center, received good wishes from Mike Van Poucke and Ron Davidson upon his re-election to Naperville City Council. Hinterlong’s candidacy resulted in the highest number of votes, 12,465, in the Naperville Consolidated Election.
Attendees at the get-together also celebrated the results of the ballot measure that Hinterlong and eight of the 11 candidates for City Council had supported. The Yes at Large campaign to keep voting for city council at large won approval of the voters. The proposition passed 9,772 to 4,841.
Editor’s Note: Here’s hoping that during the next local election, a higher number of voters will plan to engage more of your Naperville family, friends and neighbors to participate in opportunities to meet and personally greet the candidates. All qualified and dedicated candidates deserve our attention and consideration with an informed vote for the best future we can put forward. We hope candidates who came up short this time will continue to find ways to serve our community until they can run next time.
Thanks to all who ran positive campaigns in support of the spirit of this remarkable community that welcomes its citizens to become active and involved. Congratulations to all who don’t take for granted what’s been built here! —PN
