The second of two public hearing dates for people to provide verbal comments on proposed federal energy standards for the City of Naperville will take place from 10AM to 4PM on Tuesday, March 19 in City Council Chambers at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. The hearing will be broadcast live on the City’s government access TV station WCNC (Ch. 6 – WOW, Ch. 10 – Comcast and Ch. 99 – AT&T) as well as stream live via the City’s website at www.naperville.il.us/granicus.html.
This hearing is being conducted in accordance with the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA) to consider proposed federal energy standards and decide whether the City should implement these proposed standards or decline to do so. The proposed federal energy standards include net metering, fuel sources standards, fossil fuel generation efficiency standards, interconnection standards, smart metering (with time-based rate schedules), integrated resource planning, rate design modifications and smart grid information. Utility staff has its proposed findings on each federal energy standard available for public review at www.naperville.il.us/utilityhearing.aspx as well as in hard copy form at the City Clerk’s Office at the Naperville Municipal Center.
The City will continue to accept written comments on the proposed federal energy standards through Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Written comments will be accepted through March 19 by emailing lafeberp@naperville.il.us. Comments can also be mailed or submitted in person to City Clerk’s Office, Attn: Pam LaFeber/PURPA Comments, Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., Naperville, IL 60540. Following the hearings, all testimony, comments and evidence will be summarized and a recommendation will be made to the City Council in the form of a resolution. The resolution will be discussed at a future City Council meeting for final action.
