Earlier this year, the Summer Place Theatre announced its three productions, “The Man Who Came To Dinner,” “Legally Blonde,” and “Oklahoma,” to be presented during the 2013 season in the Naperville Central High School Auditorium.
At 8PM this Friday, July 26, the community theatre company will close out its season with a celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” during a two-weekend run of the popular musical based on Lynn Riggs’ 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs.
Patrons are sure to leave the theater singing and swinging with the lyrics of “Surrey with the Fringe on Top” and “Oh! What a Beautiful Morning!” and “People Will Say We’re in Love.”
Show dates are at 8PM July 26, 27 and August 2, 3. Matinees are at 3PM July 28 and Aug. 4. Veteran Bradley Baker will direct this classic musical.

Summer Place Theatre
Founded by Donald Jamison and Dr. Donald Shanower of North Central College in 1966, the first seasons were held in a circus tent on an empty parking lot with seats donated by a local movie house. After several tornadoes the site was replaced with an outdoor pavilion, which, thanks to the Great Blizzard of 1979, was again replaced. Since then the company moved to Naperville Central High School and has remained a part of the community since its inception.
