The Exchange Club of Naperville and the 2013 Ribfest Committee announced today that Rick Springfield will be headlining the Ribfest on July 6. The 26th Ribfest will be held July 3-7, 2013 in Knoch Park, Naperville. Ribfest consists of family activities throughout the event, rib vendors from across the country and music. All the proceeds from Ribfest go to support the elimination of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence.
Marty Walker, Ribfest 2013 chair said, “We are excited to include Rick Springfield to the line-up for Ribfest this year. I know that there will be a many happy females in the crowd to see Rick Springfield giving his rendition of Jessie’s Girl.”
For all of his accomplishments as an actor, best-selling author and documentary subject, Rick Springfield has always insisted his first love is music, a passion he’s harbored since first picking up the guitar at the age of 12 in his native Australia.
With 25 million albums sold, 17 top-40 hits, including “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “An Affair of the Heart,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Love Somebody” and “Human Touch,” as well as a 1981 Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal win for his No. 1 hit single “Jessie’s Girl” behind him, Springfield has more to say with his latest Universal Music Enterprises release, Songs for the End of the World.
Springfield is the second announcement for Ribfest 2013 entertainment. STYX will be the opening act on July 3.
Tickets will go on sale in the spring on www.ribfest.net which is under construction. For up-to-date information like us on Facebook at Naperville Exchange Club’s Ribfest page or follow us on Twitter @Ribfest_NXC.
