With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would try another Naperville favorite, Catch Thirty-Five.
The atmosphere is very lively and modern. You can see them cooking in the kitchen and hear the searing of the food.
I started off with the Buffalo Shrimp appetizer. This appetizer by far will be placed on my list of 2013 favorites. The shrimp were good sized and the Asian buffalo sauce was delicious, a little spicy but not too much.
The second appetizer I tried was the Flash Fried Calamari. Did you know that when you flash fry something that it remains more tender? You are able to do this with the calamari because then it is placed in the deep fryer for that extra crispy outside. Perfect! This dish also came with grilled tofu satay. I had never had tofu before and was anxious to try it. It was served with a sweet sauce and the tofu was soft in texture and very yummy.
For the main course I choose the Atlantic King Salmon. The salmon was cooked over charcoal and served with a lemon dill sauce. The salmon was fresh, flaky and very tasty. Here’s a bit of trivia. Do you know the difference between an Atlantic Salmon and a Pacific Salmon? I did not either, but found out that Pacific salmon, the “true” salmon die after spawning. The Atlantic salmon are able to spawn several times during their life. The salmon dish was served with broccoli cooked to perfection and garlic mashed potatoes.
For dessert I chose crème brulee. I now have a new favorite dessert. This is a dessert with rich custard topped with a crust of caramelized sugar layer. MMMM Good!
Happy Valentine’s day to all you future foodies!
