First printed in 2011 to celebrate man’s best friend in the community, Naperville Dog Magazine has a new name, West Suburban Dog.
Naperville Dog has been circulating throughout many neighboring communities, including Oswego, Aurora, Wheaton, Lisle, Warrenville and Plainfield. Dog lovers know canines are constantly curious, venturing out, exploring and sniffing – and – West Suburban Dog is a more fitting title to represent the beloved canine culture of the western suburbs.
“My goal with the magazine has always been to celebrate local dogs and the joy they bring to our families. When I realized the magazine’s original title, Naperville Dog, wasn’t an accurate reflection of our community, I knew we had to make a change,” said editor-in-chief Brooke Keane. “West Suburban Dog is a far better title for us because it truly represents who we are as a pack.”
Keane has created value for dog loving readers in Naperville and the magazine’s canine pulse has radiated to neighboring communities with a strategic circulation and free-to-reader model. The new name and increasing circulation will help keep the magazine free to readers, connecting advertisers and readers with quality dog content.
“The first step in any successful marketing strategy is to create a quality product or service that adds value to people’s lives. That’s why our first order of business is to continue publishing a magazine our readers enjoy,” explained Keane. “ In doing so, it’s only natural that we will also create an attractive medium for advertisers – which is good, because as a free magazine, we must have advertisers to keep putting out new issues.”
With the new name comes a new Facebook page. One of the social media challenges is fans and followers are non-transferable. West Suburban Dog is donating a dog rescue meal for every like on its new page until March 1 at facebook.com/westsuburbandog.
The printed magazine can be found at many area shops, including Dog Patch Pet and Feed at 1108 E. Ogden and Anderson’s Bookshop in downtown Naperville. The magazine is printed bi-monthly and dog owners can submit photos for print consideration via their website. Subscriptions are also available for $25 delivered.
