Eighty million Americans suffer from vein disease, and one out of three Americans over 45 suffers from vein problems. Untreated vein disease can be life threatening. In an effort to help Naperville residents identify their vein health, Oswald’s Pharmacy will be hosting a vein function screening between 10AM and 2PM Sat., Feb. 23.
Sponsoring the screenings is Mediven, the largest provider of compression stockings, support socks and other medical compression garments. The screening is done with light reflection rheography (LRR) which is a non-evasive, fully reproducible technique for monitoring venous function.
LRR screening is based on electrically measuring, evaluating and recording light radiated into the skin by several selective infrared sources which is then reflected back by the deep skin layers to a photo-detector.
The screening provides information about the severity of chronic venous insufficiency and can also show whether treatment for varicose veins is likely to be successful.
Early detection and treatment of vein disease can ensure an enhanced quality of life.
An appointment is required for a screening. Space is limited. To set up an appointment, call Oswald’s Pharmacy at (630) 355-2500.
