Kidz Kabaret Celebrates Dr. Seuss Birthday / noon & 3PM / The Cat In The Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude, Mayzie and a host of Dr. Seuss characters will come alive on the Center Stage Theater stage during the month of February in “Seussical Junior.” In honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday these talented actors will entertain audiences young and old every Saturday in February beginning February 2, 2013. Shows will be performed at 12PM and 3PM. The characters will be available after every show for pictures and autographs. Fill the Skate, high school hockey players raising money for cancer research / 9AM-3PM / High school hockey players from Naperville Central, Neuqua Valley, Waubonsie Valley and the Naper Valley Warriors Girls Hockey team are collecting donations at Jewel stores in Naperville this Saturday, Feb. 2 from 9AM to 3PM to fight cancer. Players from Naperville North will be at the Jewel at Ogden and Washington on Sunday, Feb. 3 from 9AM to 3PM. Proceeds raised benefit the DuPage chapter of the American Cancer Society to help fund cancer research at Illinois medical centers and to provide support services for cancer patients living right in our own community.
Happy to Be Me! Benefit / 11AM – 2PM / Happy to Be Me! is a an event for middle school girls and their mothers/aunts/mentors designed to help girls build confidence and feel good about themselves. The event includes lunch, boutique shopping, and a presentation by author and “Today” show contributor Leslie Goldman, MPH. The program will help girls develop a positive sense of self and learn effective strategies to respond to peer pressure and media pressures. It will also give the important adults in their lives the tools they need to help teen and pre-teen girls navigate challenging times in their lives. Happy to Be Me! will be held at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, tickets are $50 each and proceeds benefit the Robert Crown Center for Health Education.
