Registration for the inaugural Naperville Marathon and Half Marathon began Monday, January 28 at 6AM and sold out in just over 14 hours. The race is scheduled to begin at 7AM on Sunday, November 10.
The race reached its general registration limit just after 8PM Monday evening. Race organizers posted updates throughout the day on via their Facebook page and the race was half way filled in just over four hours and eighty percent filled around 3PM.
The race route will be a flat and fast Midwestern course, with a start and finish near downtown Naperville, and is still undergoing final approval by multiple jurisdictions. The route will feature several parks, trails and forest preserves, and if approved, will run through Naperville, Plainfield, Bolingbrook and Lisle.
“Naperville is a great running community. The parks, trails and roads are second to none,” said race director Bob Hackett in a phone interview with Positively Naperville this past Friday. “It will be a great start to the holiday season.”
According to the Marathon’s website there are still some opportunities to register through the Charity Partner Program. Interested charities and volunteers may contact race organizers through email at charities@naperville26.com.
3,500 racers are scheduled to run this November in the Marathon and Half Marathon. For more information visit naperville26.com.
