Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce Inaugural Gala & Centennial Anniversary / 6-11PM / The Gala and Silent Auction serves as the formal welcoming of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 Board of Directors. Join members to honor and recognize the outgoing members of the board for their hard work and efforts, and help welcome the eight new members who will serve as your representatives for the next three years. Enjoy dancing, networking and camaraderie and a chance to look back on last year’s community accomplishments. The Gala will be held at Bobak’s Signature Events, 6440 Double Eagle Dr., Woodridge, IL. Advisory Cultural Commission Workshop meets to recommend SECA fund allocations / 9AM / The City of Naperville’s Advisory Cultural Commission will host a public workshop to determine its initial award recommendations for the 2013-2014 Special Events and Cultural Amenities (SECA) fund grant. The meeting will be held in City Council Chambers of the Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. As with all City workshops, no public testimony will be accepted.

Turning Point Autism Moving Sale / 8:30AM-2PM / Items priced to sell and all proceeds benefit Turning Pointe Day School. Turning Pointe Day School is set to move to its new location early 2013. Before the move, they need your help with clearing out the North Campus. Visit the Moving Sale and help them get ready for the students at 1500 W. Preschool Fun Fair / 9-11AM / Come to a Preschool Fun Fair! There will be lots of activities for young children, including face painting, balloon animals, an obstacle course, story telling, refreshments and crafts. Brightside Theatre Auditions for ‘URINETOWN’ / 11AM-3PM / BrightSide Theatre will audition youth aged 8-18. Auditions take place from 11AM-3PM at North Central College’s Heininger Auditorium, Larrance Academic Center, 309 E. School Street, Naperville. No appointment necessary. Rehearsals will be weekday evenings 6-9PM / Saturday and Sunday afternoons – schedule will be provided at audition in order to list appropriate conflicts. Rehearsals will take place in Downer Grove. Performances will take place at the Madden Theatre adjacent to the Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College (171 East Chicago Ave, Naperville, IL) on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11AM and 3PM and Sunday, March 17 at 6PM. Each child should prepare a memorized song to sing. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring sheet music. If you don’t have sheet music you may sing a capella. ‘Laughing Matters,’ a Second City Performance to benefit Yuks for Youth / 7-10PM / The Second City Touring Company will perform “Laughing Matters” a Yuks for Youth fundraiser benefiting the Naperville Education Foundation (the charitable arm of School District 203) Saturday January 26, 2013. Proceeds will benefit the Kid Booster Anonymous Fund, Study Skills Academy and Annual Grant Awards. The event begins at 7PM with light hors d’oeuvres, cash bar and raffle. Midwest Color Guard Circuit Show at Naperville North HS / 10AM-4:30PM / Midwest Color Guard Circuit Show will feature 35 entries to compete in the Naperville North High School Fieldhouse. The public is invited. Sponsored by the Steperettes Guard and Parent Organization. Admission: $7 for adults and $5 for children.

North Central College 17th Annual International Festival / noon-4PM / The 2013 International Festival, slated for two weeks earlier than in the past, again will be held at Merner Fieldhouse, 205 S. Brainard. The 17th annual Around the Corner, Around the World International Festival will offer advance ticket sales from its office starting on January 4-25. Advance ticket sales are $5 each and $6 at the door and as usual 3 and under are free.

Mr. McFeely kicks off sweater drive at DuPage Children’s Museum / 1-3PM / DuPage Children’s Museum will host a sweater drive now through Feb. 28. Children (and adults!) can have photos taken with Mr. McFeely, the Speedy Delivery Man from Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. Donate new or gently-worn sweaters, as well as other like-new clean clothing items. Receptacles to collect the sweaters will be stationed at DuPage Children’s Museum, 301 N. Washington St., Naperville. Local charitable organizations DuPage PADS and Hesed House will be the beneficiaries of all clothing donations. Museum membership or paid admission is required.

Super Scout Sunday at Naper Settlement / 1-4PM / Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts can participate in Fizzy, Gooey, Soaring Science from 1 to 4PM Sun., Jan. 27. The fee is $27 per Scout for the three-hour program. Brownies can earn the Home Scientist Badge and Webelos can earn parts of the Scientist Pin.
