The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association (CSOA) announced Thursday that it will present five concerts at The Morton Arboretum on June 27, 29 and 30.
Choose DuPage played an integral role in the process to bring the Symphony to DuPage County—working with the Symphony and their consultants—and providing the necessary demographic, economic and infrastructure information.
“This is great news for DuPage County. The Symphony and their consultants were a pleasure to work with and Choose DuPage is naturally very pleased with this announcement,” said Choose DuPage President & CEO Greg Bedalov.
“We are thrilled with this partnership and we welcome the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to DuPage County,” said DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin. “DuPage is a fabulous place to live, work and to raise a family, and the orchestra is a great addition to our cultural amenities. I look forward to hearing the orchestra perform at the Arboretum this summer. Thank you to Symphony President Deborah Rutter and the Orchestra for their decision to perform in DuPage County.”
A musical force in Chicago and around the world, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra has been consistently hailed as one of the finest international orchestras since it’s founding in 1891. On Thursday, June 27 at 7:30PM, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra salutes the music of composer John Williams, performing such familiar pieces as his Suite from Star Wars, March from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Adventures on Earth from E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. Richard Kaufman conducts. On Saturday, June 29 at 7:30PM., Carlos Miguel Prieto leads the CSO in an all-Tchaikovsky program featuring Capriccio italien and Symphony No. 4, as well as the Violin Concerto with soloist Jennifer Koh. On Saturday, June 29 at 11:30AM and 12:45PM the CSO gives two performances of Goldilocks and the Three Bears from its Once Upon a Symphony series, which offers small ensemble concert experiences designed specifically for families with children ages three to five. Prieto also leads the CSO in a family-oriented concert on Sunday, June 30 at 3PM; the program will be announced at a later date.
“We believe there are many opportunities to reach new audiences and develop new relationships with potential patrons in Chicago’s western suburbs,” said CSOA President Deborah F. Rutter. “The Morton Arboretum is a destination in itself, and its incomparable beauty will serve as a captivating backdrop for our performances.”
Tickets go on sale on March 20, 2013 via cso.org and at the CSO box office or by calling CSO Patron Services at (312) 294-3000.
