The Naperville Municipal Band’s winter concert, “The Three B’s Plus One,” will be held at 3PM Sun., Feb. 24, at Plainfield East High School, 12001 S. Naperville Rd., Plainfield.
The three “B’s” are Brahms, The Beatles and Broadway, plus the one and only Bond, James Bond. To celebrate Brahms 180th birthday, the band will play, “Academic Festival Overture.” To commemorate The Beatles’ first American appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1963, the band will perform a medley of popular Beatles songs. The band will play a variety of lively Broadway show tunes. In a tribute to James Bond and in honor of his 50th anniversary, the band will play memorable hits from the Bond movies.
The band will perform two numbers with the Plainfield East High School band, including “Broadcast from Brazil.” David Lesniak is the Director of Bands at Plainfield East. He has been with the high school since the school opened its doors in August 2008. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Director of Bands at Batavia High School from 1999-2008. In addition to his high school position, Mr. Lesniak is a Visiting Lecturer of Music at North Central College, teaching classes in Brass Techniques and Advanced Instrumental Conducting.
