See ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ at Pfeiffer Hall / 7PM / The School of Performing Arts will present three performances of the Tony Award-winning musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” this weekend on stage at Pfeiffer Hall. The first performance is at 7PM on Fri., Jan. 11. Performances also are at 2PM and 7PM Sat., Jan. 12. Pfeiffer Hall is located at 310 E. Benton Ave. on the campus of North Central College. Kevin Coyne for City Council Family Fundraiser / 2-4PM / Join Citizens to Elect Kevin Coyne for a family fundraiser at the Naperville Brunswick Zone from 2 to 4pm on January 12, 2013. This event will feature two hours of bowling and a private room for Kevin Coyne to meet with his supporters. Cost for this event is $25 per family. Community Reception & Palestinian Art Exhibit at Our Saviour’s Church / 6-8PM /The Palestinian Art Exhibit is designed to show hope in the creativity and lives of Palestinian artists, both Christian and Muslims. Christian and Muslim students at Dar al-Kalima, a Lutheran fine arts college sponsored by Bright Stars for Bethlehem, created the juried paintings, multimedia and photographs. All of the art will be for sale with the proceeds going to the artists. The public reception for the community will follow the 5PM service at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, located at 815 S. Washington St.

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Marc Cohn performs at the Wentz / 8PM /North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. History Speaks Lecture Series: The Hindenburg Disaster / 4-5PM / Learn about one of the greatest disasters of the 20th century during this first-person presentation on the Hindenburg from 4 to 5PM Sun., Jan. 13 at Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel. On May 6, 1937, WLS reporter Herb Morrison was sent to Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey to cover the first anniversary of transatlantic passenger service. Hear Morrison, portrayed by veteran actor and historian Terry Lynch, recount the horrific details of that day on the 75th anniversary of the disaster. Advance tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for students, youth and Naperville Heritage Society sustaining members.
