Having survived the holidays and the predicted doomsday of December 21, we can move into January and the new Mayan era with an open mind and fresh perspective. As we are fortified with renewed enthusiasm, it is a perfect time to participate in the season of activities at the Naperville Art League (NAL). Located at 508 North Center St., NAL’s Fine Art Center and Gallery opens its doors to the public.
Here is what’s in store:
The “By the Pound” Exhibit begins Jan. 7 with an opening reception honoring NAL’s new members on from 2-4PM Sat., Jan. 19. This is a great way to meet the artists among us. “Fabulous Fakes,” NAL’s most entertaining members’ exhibit, will open on February 8, with a reception from 2-4PM Sun., Feb. 17. Featured pieces will be reminiscent of recognizable works of art, but look closely. You will find twists and tweaks that are sure to delight.
“Completely Different,” NAL’s 9th annual public art competition, will be on display March 8-17, with the awards ceremony on Sun., March 17. Members and non-members alike are invited to respond to our ‘call for artists’ and enter their work to compete for cash prizes. This is a great opportunity for outside artists to exhibit their work at the Naperville Fine Art Center and Gallery. (Check www.napervilleartleague.com for details.)
With so much going on in the local world of art, why not treat yourself to visual pleasures and maybe a surprise or two at Naperville Art League’s Fine Art Center and Gallery?
