Artists wanted: Naperville Art League to hold annual competition

-

ART_LEAGUEFor the ninth consecutive year, the Naperville Art League  is inviting the public to enter an original work of art into an art contest. This year’s theme is Completely Different. High School, college students and adults can submit pieces interpreting the theme in virtually any media.

Cash awards will be given for Best of Show and honorable mentions. Details on media, size and other requirements are available from the Naperville Art League by calling 630.355.2530 or at www.napervilleartleague.com.

The works will be exhibited at the Naperville Art League’s Fine Art Center and Gallery, 508 N. Center St. on March 8 through March 17 with a special reception and awards ceremony on Sunday, March 17 from 2-4PM.

Last year’s subject, Attachment, was quite successful, with over 60 entries from local artists of all ages. The event has been growing in popularity each year. “I am always amazed at the quality of art work submitted by local artists. It is fascinating to the diversity of the interpretation of the theme. The broad variances create an exciting exhibit.” said Deborah Venezia, executive director of the Naperville Fine Art Center and Gallery. While the gallery regularly displays only the work of the Naperville Art League members, an exception is made for this show. “We realize there are a lot of other talented people in the area. We’re thrilled to open our doors to everyone.”

Entries for Completely Different will be accepted at the Naperville Art League’s Fine Art Center and Gallery any Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from noon until 4PM or Saturday from 10AM to 4PM through February 16. The entry form must be completed and affixed to the piece along with an artist’s statement of 100 words or less explaining how the entry relates to the theme. Details are available by calling 630.355.2530, stopping into the League’s gallery or on their website at www.napervilleartleague.com. There is a nominal fee for entering.

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
