For the second year, at an event held at Continental Toyota Scion in Hodgkins, Continental Motors Group gave eight pre-owned vehicles, one from each of their dealerships, to the Naperville CARES Car Program.
All eight recipients of the cars and their families, including young children, were at the Driven to Care event to celebrate their new cars, receive the keys and get a tutorial on each vehicle. All car recipients qualified for the Car Program because they lacked reliable transportation to get to work.

Naperville resident and single mother Nikita Hawkins was one of the car recipients. She received a 2006 Silver Chevy Aveo LS 4 door hatchback. Hawkins had moved to the area to be closer to family and while looking for a job had her car repossessed. She now works full-time at Oak Forest Hospital but had been relying on cabs, carpooling and relatives to get her to work. In addition she was depending on others to get to doctors’ appointments and hospital visits to treat her four-year-old daughter’s asthma, as well as for transportation for seemingly simple tasks like grocery shopping.
