Park District Board approves updated Master Plan

naperville park district squareAt its December 17 meeting, the Naperville Park District Board of Park Commissioners voted to adopt the updated Master Plan, which will guide park maintenance and development for the next five years.

Following a discussion of the draft Master Plan at the November 8 Board meeting, the Plan was available for public review for 30 days at www.napervilleparks.org. Additionally, Park District staff and commissioners held an open house for further public comment on Thursday, December 13.

“This updated Master Plan will be extremely helpful in guiding the Park District’s management of land and facilities over the next five years,” said Executive Director Ray McGury. “The Master Plan brings together in one document all of the relevant planning data, including the 2012 Community Interest and Opinion Survey, the Recreation Programming Plan, the Three-Year Financial Plan, and others.”

The newly adopted Master Plan may be viewed on the Naperville Park District’s website at http://www.napervilleparks.org/master-plans and paper copies of the Plan are available for on-site viewing at the reception counter at the following locations:

  • Administration Building, located at 320 W. Jackson Ave., open Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5PM and 9AM to noon on Saturday.
  • Planning Office, located at 425 W. Jackson Ave., open Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 4:30PM.
  • Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, located at 305 W. Jackson Ave., open Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5PM.
  • 95th Street Center, located at 2244 W. 95th St., open Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5PM and 9AM to noon on Saturday.

Please note that the above facilities will be closed for the holidays from Dec. 22-25 and Dec. 29-Jan. 1, with the exception of the Administration Building, which will be open Dec. 31 from 8:30AM to noon.
