Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes will once again take place in 2013. Residents are encouraged to take part in this program and learn more about emergency preparedness in the community and how they can help Naperville be ready in the event of an emergency.
The free classes will take place from 6:45 to 9:30PM on January 30, February 6, February 13 and February 20 at the Naperville Electric Service Center, 1392 Aurora Ave. The final class will take place from 8AM to 2:30PM on Saturday, February 23 at Fire Station No.4, 1979 Brookdale Rd.
CERT offers basic disaster response training skills in areas such as fire safety, light search and rescue, first aid, disaster medical operations and team organization, among many others. Once participants complete the program, they will be qualified to assist their neighborhoods or workplaces in cases of emergency when professional first responders cannot immediately make it to the scene.
Participants must be 18 years of age and either live or be employed in the City of Naperville. Interested parties should download a registration form and waiver from the CERT website at www.napercert.org. Completed forms and waivers should be mailed to CERT Basic Training Class, Fire Administration Building, 1380 Aurora Ave., Naperville, IL 60540. Space in the class is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
