Registration is underway for professionals seeking to advance their careers, hobbyists interested in home décor and photography, and families with children who would like to learn a foreign language and much more through North Central College’s Community Education program.

“The timing of our catalog is perfect for the community because it allows people to select courses for themselves or as a gift for someone for the holidays,” says Deanna Taylor, the College’s community education program director. “From learning how to publish a book, to piano and voice lessons, Photoshop and photography, nutrition and health, languages, theatre and dance for children, professional development, and so much more—we really cater to all different interests and ages. It’s a great opportunity for people to experience the College’s facilities while learning something new.”

Classes for children & adults

Programs for children include classes in musical theatre dance and drama and improv. The College continues to offer a variety of courses through a partnership with the Naperville Cultural Center, including instruction in Russian and Japanese languages.

For adults, North Central offers professional development training for employees and managers, as well as entrepreneurship and career development. New offerings include training to become a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a course in emotional intelligence training. Computer courses include instruction on Microsoft Word and Excel as well as the Drupal content management system.

Additional offerings include health and fitness courses, nutrition and dance conditioning (Pilates), and fine arts and general interest courses in photography, home interior design, book publishing, computer applications and much more.

“We also enjoy seeing people return to campus after having taken a class because they found out about our fine and performing arts schedule,” Taylor says.

Courses run January thru June

Courses range in duration and starting dates and are offered from early January through June. Registration is available until the day before classes begin.
