-

Tickets, $20 each,  are on sale now for the YMCA’s 8th Annual YMCA-Naperville Mayor’s Community Prayer Breakfast.

This year’s event  will take place from 7-8:30AM on Fri., Dec. 7 with a breakfast buffet beginning at 6:30AM at the Fry Family YMCA, 2120 W. 95th St. in Naperville. Typically a sell-out, this community event includes music, scripture and special guest speakers.

Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel will lead in the reading of the litany at the multi-denominational event. Friedrich-Jones and Overman-Jones Funeral Homes & Cremation Services is a committed community partner that is again sponsoring the event.

“I have been a YMCA supporter for 30 years,” Ray Jones, whose family has operated Friedrich-Jones and Overman-Jones Funeral Homes & Cremation Services since 1977, said. “Our family business was the first YMCA sponsor. Ever since, we have continued to be an advocate for many of the YMCA programs benefiting the youth and elderly of our community. The YMCA is unique in that it spans the generations and caters to all family members. We’re fortunate to have such a diverse organization to provide resources to our community.”

Paula Gavin, Executive Director of New York City’s Fund for Public Advocacy, will be this year’s guest speaker. The Fund fosters innovative ideas to tackle challenges facing New York City and the nation, including providing education opportunities for immigrants, meeting pension obligations, supporting small businesses and restraining corporate political spending. Gavin previously served as President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater New York from 1990-2004.
