Find the Grinch at participating local independents

-

Hey! Steal a glimpse of the Grinch this holiday season hanging around your favorite independent business for a chance to win a big prize from your local independent merchants.

“Grow your heart three sizes…Shop locally, dine locally, entertain locally,” said Becky Anderson, founder of IndieBound Naperville. The mantra was echoed the group of independent business owners about a new local promotion that premieres on Black Friday.

Shopping locally makes a difference

Just this week a committee of IndieBound Naperville merchants put the final plan together to help raise awareness about the importance of shopping at local merchants, especially during the holiday season. Shoppers need to be mindful to support the local business community in order to support a  quality of life that includes  public safety, leaf collection, trash collection, snow plowing and many other city services. Local spending habits have a big impact on Naperville’s workforce and local tax revenues.

Participating independently-owned businesses

Already more than 20 local independents have signed up to participate in the Grinch campaign and the list will continue to grow.

Folks from Dean’s Clothing, Dog Patch Pet & Feed, Ellman’s Music Center, Second Chance Retail, Porter Presentations, Two Bostons (both locations), Naperville Dog Magazine, Positively Naperville, Twisted Olive, Heaven on Seven, Quigley’s Irish Pub, Anderson’s Bookshop, Anderson’s Two Doors East, Couture Vision, Cowart Chiropractic, Gelati, Restyle, The Boxes, AnaBanana Kids, Gotskind Shoes, QBBQ, Roseland Draperies, Cookie Dough Creations, Sugar Monkey Cupcakes, Bela Caley,  The Irish Way Sop, Saraboo Creek, Twist Boutique, Naperville Running Company and O’Cie Floral  welcome all ages to join the search for Dr. Seuss’  character in the Santa hat.

IndieBound Naperville promotion began Black Friday

Since 2008, members of IndieBound Naperville have been identified by bright red signs in store windows that welcome customers to “Love your Local.”

Since Black Friday, Nov. 23, a placard with Dr. Seuss’ famous Grinch that stole Christmas has been hidden in store windows and inside some local establishments owned and operated by independent business owners.

Search for the image of the  Grinch on a sleigh filled with toys all over town from Main Street to Ogden Avenue to Chicago Avenue to N. Naper Boulevard to S. Naper Boulevard and more. Find him 16 times, pick up “I found the Grinch at…” tags and turn them in at Anderson’s Bookshop for a chance to win a holiday basket of prizes.

Shoppers of all ages with eagle eyes who spot the famous Grinch 16 times and collect 16 tags will be eligible to win.  No purchase is necessary. The Grinch Party with the raffle drawing is scheduled at 2PM Fri.,  Dec. 28, at Anderson’s Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson.

Are you ready to let your heart grow for locals while playing a game that’s that  easy this holiday season?

Or as the Grinch, celebrating 55 years this year,  might say, “Are you having a holly, jolly Christmas?”

Did you know? The Grinch is the creation of the late Theodore Geisel, the beloved Dr. Seuss, whose books have delighted children for generations. In celebration of the Grinch’s longevity and popularity, IndieBound Naperville has adopted the character this holiday season to promote shopping local at area businesses, including Anderson’s Bookshop here in Naperville. This marks the first time the Seuss estate has given permission for this kind of promotional program. The game lasts until the concluding party on December 28. For more information about hunting for the Grinch in Naperville, call Anderson’s Bookshop at (630) 355-2665.
