The Naperville Park District invites the community to the grand opening of its newly renovated recreation space at the 95th Street Center. The event will take place from 9AM to 11:30AM on Saturday, December 8 on the second and third floors of the Center, located at 2244 W. 95th Street in south Naperville.
“We invite everyone to join us for the ribbon cutting and then to participate in a fun sampling of activities that the Park District will offer at this facility,” said Director of Recreation Brad Wilson.
Additionally, those interested in a preview of the District’s new culinary arts programs may register online beginning November 15 for a limited number of free demo classes that will be held the week of December 10-15. Online registration is available at www.napervilleparks.org.
“The teaching kitchen is one of the most exciting features of the 95th Street Center, said Program Manager Sandie Gilmer. “The setup is unique in Naperville, with six teaching stations in one room. This space allows us to offer culinary classes for all ages, for beginning chefs and those interested in taking their cooking to the next level,” she said. The culinary space also is available for rentals by families and small groups for personal use.
The Naperville Park District holds a three-year lease for 11,500 square feet of indoor programming space at the Center. The leased space includes:
- 2 multipurpose rooms
- A wood floor studio
- 2 classrooms
- A culinary teaching kitchen with 6 full kitchen teaching stations
- A lounge/waiting area
- A full service customer service counter
- Staff offices
“Our recreation staff is excited to be able to offer a full range of programs for all ages at this south side location,” said Director of Recreation Brad Wilson. “Beginning Thursday, November 29, residents and nonresidents can register online or at 320 W. Jackson Ave. for the new winter programs, including sewing and cooking classes, dance classes, yoga, Pilates, gymnastics, arts and crafts, computer explorers, knitting, weight loss classes, and much more.”
The new registration desk at the 95th Street Center will open on Monday, December 3 for those who wish to register in person at that location.
