Will someone please tell me what happened to 2012? Pages on the calendar are falling off faster than leaves on a tree and suddenly we are entering the holiday season.
Since I’ve been running dangerously close to deadlines all year, I am fearful that the stockings won’t get hung by the chimney until January unless drastic time-saving measures are implemented. How does this sound? Under the guise of going green, e-cards could be sent electronically with one mouse click and hey, isn’t everyone trying to find a healthy alternative to those fat and calorie laden home baked goods? Apples will make a fine substitution.
Maybe there is still time to gain some control on holiday gift buying. Instead of fighting the crowds at the malls, take advantage of local destinations that may ease the frustration of shopping. For many years, Naperville has been home to solid outlets for diverse original items. Featuring artwork from area artisans, these venues will be stocked with items that are sure to thrill even the most discriminating recipient.
The Naperville Art League will host its annual Holiday Art Show and Sale at the Naperville Fine Art Center and Gallery, 508 N. Center Street.
The exhibit kicks off with an opening reception 6-9PM on Fri., Nov. 16, inviting the public to indulge in the pleasure of shopping in a social environment. The open house will continue 10AM-4PM on Sat., Nov.17. The show itself will run until December 15.
Showcasing the work of the members of the Naperville Art League, the exhibit will feature paintings, fiber art, ceramics and a variety of functional and non-functional original work.
