-

On Tues., Nov. 13, Naperville’s own Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School will be recognized as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S.  Department of Education in Washington, D.C.

Principal Frank Glowaty and Assistant Principal Jane Moylan traveled to Washington to accept this award at the 30th annual U.S. Department of Education recognition ceremony for National Blue Ribbon Schools. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels. Approximately 219 public and 50 private schools will be honored at the recognition ceremony this week.

Pep Rally is Friday!

Ss. Peter & Paul students will participate in a pep rally and their own award ceremony at 12:45PM, Fri., Nov. 16, in the school gymnasium.

(Note:  Pep Rally photo added Fri., Nov. 16. See additional photos and story posted on Nov. 16.)

Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel and Fr. John Belmonte, S.J., Ph.D, Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Joliet have been invited to attend the festivities.

Before the pep rally students will be treated to a pizza lunch, and everyone will receive a blue ribbon t-shirt. Weather permitting, a school-wide blue ribbon photograph will be attempted.

Did you know? Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has honored America’s most successful public and private elementary, middle, and high schools. To select National Blue Ribbon Schools, the Department requests nominations from the top education official in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and the Bureau of Indian Education. The Council for American Private Education (CAPE) nominates private schools. The Secretary of Education invites nominated schools to submit an application for possible recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. In its 30-year history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed this coveted award on nearly 7,000 of America’s schools.
