From 11:30AM to 10PM Tues., Nov. 13, Meson Sabika will partner with the American Red Cross to raise funds for the relief efforts on the Atlantic Coast in the wake of the devastating hurricane and subsequent flooding.
The tapas restaurant will donate 100 percent of every dollar earned from sales during lunch and dinner on Nov. 13 toward efforts to help those devastated and displaced by Hurricane Sandy.
“We are really enthusiastic about the opportunity to help raise money for the Red Cross and many residents with needs after the hurricane,” said general manager Noushin Shirazi. “Already we have about 100 reservations for lunch and another 300 for dinner. And we have plenty of room for more.”
Owner Hossein Jamali and Shirazi will be at the restaurant most of Tuesday to welcome guests.
Serving until 10PM Tues., Nov. 13
Early Tuesday evening, when Jamali was making the rounds to thank guests for coming, he was introduced to Doug Dallmer and Tonia Dewaele, two Naperville residents who had come to support the fundraiser.
Dallmer was born and raised in the Oak Wood neighborhood of Staten Island, a community about one mile from the beach that he said he no longer recognizes after the devastation caused by the superstorm. Folks who were watching last week’s City Council meeting likely remember Dallmer’s plea for Naperville to respond in some way as they did after Hurricane Katrina. That’s when Mayor George Pradel told him about the all-day event at Meson Sabika to benefit the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts.
“We still have reservations available after 8PM,” said Jamali at 5:30PM as the restaurant began to fill. “We served more than 100 at lunch. And we’re happy many people came early this evening. Thank you for coming.”

In Naperville, Meson Sabika is located at 1025 Aurora Ave.
Also, Meson Sabika’s sister restaurant, Tapas Valencia in Chicago, will donate 100 percent of revenue generated on Tues., Nov. 13, to the Red Cross.
Thanksgiving Dinner – 11AM-1:30PM Nov. 22
In a related effort, Meson Sabika will host its annual traditional turkey dinner for anyone or any family down on its luck and in need of someplace to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. RSVP for the complimentary Thanksgiving Dinner by Nov. 15.
Editor’s Note: Thanks for supporting Meson Sabika’s initiative to raise funds for the families along the East Coast who lost everything due to Hurricane Sandy. After two weeks, many residents are still without power and basic needs.
Thanks, too, for remembering to leave a gratuity for the service staff.
