The Naperville Heritage Society and Naper Settlement Museum Board welcomes new board members

The Naperville Heritage Society recently welcomed three new board members, John Koranda, Margie Ploense and Dennise Vaughn.

The Naper Settlement Museum Board also welcomes new board member Mary Ann Junkroski.

Mike Krol, chairman of the Naperville Heritage Society board of directors, said, “We are pleased to welcome these dedicated community members who have an interest in historic preservation and education. It is so gratifying to see their involvement with the Naperville Heritage Society and Naper Settlement.”

John Koranda is a lifelong resident of Naperville and has always been very involved in the community and charitable organizations. John went against his Huskie roots and married a Redhawk and now has two beautiful daughters. John was a founding member of the RAK Scholarship Foundation that provides college scholarships to Naperville North graduates as well as is in the process of setting up a pass-through organization to support various memorial needs of our military servicemen and their families. He also helped in disaster relief efforts in Thailand after the tsunami and New Orleans after Katrina. John attended Dartmouth College and received a business degree from North Central College. Currently, he is employed as a commercial banker with Naperville Bank & Trust, a Wintrust Community Bank. John has very fond memories being a kid, running around and exploring Naper Settlement and is excited to be on the board and give back to the Naperville Heritage Society.

Margie Ploense has been a Naperville resident since 1986 and a resident of the River Crest Estates subdivision for 10 years. She currently works part-time for Dean’s Clothing, which has been located in downtown Naperville for over 50 years. She spent 25 years in the business-to-business sales of telecommunications and office equipment and previously was the membership manager of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. Margie is very involved in Naperville as a volunteer, having served in several homeowners associations. She was the event chair for Naper Wine and Dine and on the committee in 2009 and 2010 for Dinner on the Town, two fundraisers that benefit the Naperville Heritage Society.

Dennise Vaughn, MBA, FACHE, is the Vice President of Corporate Resources and Cancer Operations at Edward Hospital and Health Services in Naperville, where she has worked for 21 years. Her background includes strategic planning, business development and operations improvement. She holds a BS in Health Planning and Administration from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and an MBA from DePaul University, Chicago. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and, in 1999 she was the Young Executive of the Year. She has served on the following boards in various leadership roles including the Naperville Education Foundation, Multicultural Leadership Academy, Naperville School/Family/Community Partnership, Voluntary Hospitals of America, Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce, KidsMatter, Chicago Area Healthcare Planning and Marketing Association, DuPage Community Clinic, Access DuPage Advisory Committee and United Way.

Naper Settlement Museum Board welcomes Junkroski

Mary Ann Junkroski and her husband, Paul, are  owners of Roseland Draperies in downtown Naperville, which they opened in 1983. They moved to Naperville in 1975 and have been actively involved in volunteering and donating to dozens of local not-for-profits through the years, including Naper Settlement. Mary Ann was also a member of the Naper Days executive committee for three years. She has served on the City of Naperville’s Downtown Advisory Commission, the Downtown Naperville Alliance Board and the North Central College Performing Arts Association. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise, the North Central College President’s Club and the Guild of St. Patrick’s Residence. Roseland Draperies is also a business partner with Naperville School District 203.

The Naperville Heritage Society has increased the size of its board to 20 members to effectively support its institutional goals for fiscal years 2013-2015.
