Naperville voters head to the polls

-

Polling places are well marked throughout Naperville with tent signs and American flags. Polls opened at 6AM and will remain open until 7PM.

The signs are great if folks are out and about today.

Remember that some folks work in the  home.  Hard as it might be to imagine, they may not be paying attention to the newspapers, television or radio. Remind them that it’s Election Day. Every vote counts.

More than once during our 20-year voting history in Illinois, we have received a comment after  reminding someone about Election Day, “Oh, my gosh! I got busy and almost forgot. Thanks for the reminder.”

Naperville registered voters  can cast ballots for choices of candidates to serve  in DuPage and Will counties, Springfield and Washington, D.C.

Early this morning when this report was started, voters headed to the polls at May Watts Elementary School and Community Christian Church under party sunny skies. By mid-morning,  the city had became overcast.

Steady turnout so far on Naperville’s west side

Election judges for Naperville 066 and 0021 at the Community Christian Church located at 1635  Emerson Lane reported a steady stream of voters during the first four hours. For instance, by 8:10AM 230 voters of some 1560 registered voters had already cast their ballots. By 10:10AM, 338 voters had participated in their civic duty for the General Election at that location. Those numbers do not include the early voters or absentee ballots.  Already, the numbers are impressive. Stay tuned.

It takes just a few minutes to be prepared!

Be a prepared and educated voter by getting to know the candidates and propositions listed on the ballot before you head to  the polls.

2;50PM November 6 Update Precincts 66 & 21

Those gray skies reported earlier are now spitting rain.

Another visit to the  Community Christian  Church (a.k.a. Yellow Box Church) where voting is underway until 7PM found that 568 registered voters had cast their ballots by 2:50PM. Approximately 100 voters had used the electronic voting machine.  All of the remaining voters had requested paper ballots.

7PM November 6 Update Precincts 66 & 21

By evening it was raining rain, you know. According to Election Judges for Precincts 21 and 66, the weather didn’t dampen activity at the polling place. Precinct committeemen said it was the biggest turnout they  ever remember. The precincts that include two apartment complexes, one townhouse complex and single family homes attracted 828 voters. The last voter arrived just minutes before 7PM.

Editor’s Note:  Practically overnight, the landscape became planted with thousands of campaign signs for candidates. Thanks to all, win or lose, for taking down all  signs down just as quickly after the election.

Thanks to all voters! Many happy returns.
