I am loving the Facebook posting from PN!!! It’s looking really, really good (website, FB, newspaper)! —Jane Abe

Sometimes I feel like quitting the column, but just when I do I run into someone that I don’t even know tell me how much they enjoy it. After church this morning Kathy and I stopped at Dunking Doughnuts for coffee. As we sat shoving pumpkin muffins down our face a fellow at the next table said, “Excuse me, aren’t you Ed Channell? I read you column religiously and enjoy it more than I can express.” It was Bernie Cobb, a fellow I’ve never personally met, but know who he is around town. Bernie is now my personal best friend. —Ed Channell

When I got wind we could purchase a piece of history, meaning the Cock Robin T Shirt, I jumped at it! I could not believe someone had put a piece of history on a shirt..how happy was I. I immediately ordered mine and will wear it with pride…It brings back so many memories of when we use to venture to the Cock Robin— or Prince Castle as we sometimes called it—  during the 60’s, 70’s. 80’s, and part of the 90’s before the establishment closed its doors for good. I think the last one to go was located in Naperville.

I used to go to the one located in Melrose Park, Illinois….I remember always getting one of those One In A Million Malts. Mine would be with caramel and I loved it, also those flat hamburgers but oh they tasted so good, and then the square scoop different flavored ice cream on a cone….those were such good memories…Loved that place…..glad I got the tshirt whoever thought of that, great idea!  —Jean Weathers, Broadview, Illinois

I want to thank you for participating in the 2012 Naperville Mayor’s Golf Outing. Due to your support, the Golf Outing raised $37,000, which will be distributed to the following not-for-profit organizations which provide services to children and young people in our Naperville community: Almost Home Kids, DuPage Children’s Museum, Edward Foundation Kids Care Campaign, Little Friends, Naperville Junior Woman’s Club Safety Town, Our Children’s Homestead, Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation and YMCA of Metro Chicago.

Next year’s outing will take place on Monday, September 9, 2013. We hope that you will save this date and be able to participate again in this enjoyable and worthwhile outing. Thank you so much for your generosity and commitment to Naperville and its charitable organizations. —A. George Pradel

What’s on the ballot? You (www.positivelynaperville.com) are the only place I could find the complete information. Thank you for providing that info for voters!!! —Jini Clare
