Naperville Art League celebrates first 50 years with gala and open house

-

To celebrate its first 50 years, the Naperville Art League is hosting a gala with live music, culinary delights and visual arts from 5:30-8:30PM Sat., Oct. 27, at the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery, 508 N. Center St., just off Fifth Ave.

The “gallery light” show in the dark room attracted lots of attention during our visit early in the evening on Oct. 27, as guests were arriving for the festivities  just before the event was to open. The gala is free to the public.  All are invited to attend.

Vocalist Hannah Lorimer and guitarist Grant Wu, students from Naperville Central High School, were performing as guests began to surround the buffet table filled with sumptuous appetizers.  Wall hangings chock full of publicity showcased the history of the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair and many art programs available at the gallery.

Door prizes and items for goodie bags were  contributed from many local independent merchants in appreciation for the dedication of  members of Naperville Art League.

To continue the celebration, from 11AM to 3PM on Sun., Oct. 28, the Naperville Art League invites the community to an Art Education Open House at the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see student work on display, meet Naperville Art League teachers, and learn about classes for all ages and all skill levels. Free art demos and activities will provided all day. Dick Blick will provide a free paper flower making activity, art demos and opportunities to do free art activities. Refreshments will be available at this kid-friendly event.

Fifty years ago, the Naperville Art League was formed by a group of art enthusiasts interested in learning and improving their skills. Since then, the nonprofit organization has had art education at its core. Today, students of all ages take advantage of the programs offered through the Naperville Art League.
