Lane closures at Washington St. and Benton Ave. begin Monday

-

Sidewalk and lane closures are scheduled to take place for two weeks at Washington St. and Benton Ave. beginning Monday, October 29 as curb and sidewalk reconstruction and streetscape installation is performed in the area.

Sidewalk closures will include the west side of Washington St. between Franklin and Benton avenues as well as the north side of Benton Ave. between Main and Washington streets. A pedestrian detour will be posted.

While sidewalk and curb work is taking place, several traffic lanes will be closed in the area for the duration of the project. Lane closures will include the right southbound lane of Washington St. from Franklin to Benton avenues and the right westbound lane of Benton Ave. from Washington to Main streets. Although two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the construction, traffic delays are expected. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead or take alternate routes whenever possible.

The project is expected to take two weeks to complete, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances. Access to nearby businesses will not be affected, and businesses will remain open while the project is underway.
