Celtic Woman returns to North Central College Dec. 8-9 to perform holiday favorites

-

Celtic Woman returns to North Central College Dec. 8-9 with two performances of its critically acclaimed “A Christmas Celebration—The Symphony Tour.”

Performances begin at 8PM  Saturday, Dec. 8, and at 6PM Sunday, Dec. 9, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave.

Tickets are $95, $85 and $80; call the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit northcentralcollege.edu/showtix.

Due to overwhelming demand from last year’s sold-out holiday tour stop in Naperville, the enchanting Irish music sensation Celtic Woman is back again performing its beloved Christmas songs in a unique and festively traditional symphonic setting. The concert tour promises to be a dynamic live music experience that showcases the angelic voices of Celtic Woman underscored by the stirring sound of the Frank Caruso Orchestra.

The vocal quartet consists of Chloë Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Susan McFadden and Máiréad Nesbitt. The performance will feature Christmas classics from the group’s 2006 release “A Christmas Celebration.” The platinum-selling album includes such holiday favorites as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “O Holy Night” and “White Christmas.”

Celtic Woman on Oct. 9 released a new holiday album, “Home For Christmas,” available on Manhattan Records. The ensemble’s second Christmas album features such holiday favorites as “Winter Wonderland,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “Silent Night.”

Since Celtic Woman’s inception in 2004, the all-female ensemble has sold more than 7 million CDs and DVDs worldwide. Two of its albums debuted in the Billboard Top 10, and three have achieved gold or platinum status. Celtic Woman retains a close connection to its fans via public television specials and frequent touring. Visit celticwoman.com to learn more.

Joining Celtic Woman for performances is the Frank Caruso Orchestra, led by pianist and acclaimed North Central College jazz faculty member Frank Caruso. Caruso has played with the U.S. Navy jazz band—the Commodores—in Washington, D.C., and has appeared with many well-known musicians, including Luciano Pavarotti, Henry Mancini, Louis Bellson, Maynard Ferguson, the Count Basie Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Navistar is underwriting sponsor of North Central College’s 2012-2013 Fine and Performing Arts Season. The season is partially supported by USG Corporation and a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

These upcoming performances are among many ongoing programs at North Central College to enrich and broaden the cultural and academic outlook for the College and community. North Central offers a variety of venues accommodating a rich range of local and world-class events, performances and space needs for the public.
