‘Mind and Body’ art exhibit showcases work by three students

-

The “Mind and Body” exhibit is free, open to the public and on display Oct. 11 through Nov. 11 in the College’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St. The student artists will greet visitors during a reception from 6 to 8PM Friday, Oct. 19; complimentary refreshments will be served.

The collaborative exhibit will feature works by students Annie Godzicki of Villa Park, Ian Hilton of Naperville and Erin Williamson of Grant Park, Ill. Godzicki and Williamson are both majoring in interactive media studies: graphic arts with minors in studio art, and Hilton is majoring in psychology with minors in studio art and biology. The students’ works include photography, drawing, mixed media, printmaking and painting.

“Our exhibit will portray the precision of the anatomical forms that make up the human body, mixed with the chaos that is in the mind during one’s creative process,” the artists said in a joint statement about the show. “Forming a connection between realism and abstract art, the show not only intrigues viewers about the human body, but also fascinates them by how mysterious the mind can be.”

Christine Rabenold, assistant professor of art, is faculty advisor for the exhibit. For more information about the exhibit or gallery hours, contact Rabenold at 630-637-5543 or cmrabenold@noctrl.edu.

“The artists are exploring the complexities of the human figure and the intersection of the body and mind,” Rabenold says.
