Sidewalk improvements are scheduled to begin at Chicago Avenue and Washington Street on Mon., Oct. 15, which will result in intermittent lane closures near the intersection during the next few weeks.
The City’s contractor will be making improvements to the sidewalk to better accommodate persons with disabilities.
In addition to work at Chicago Avenue and Washington Street, similar sidewalk improvements will also be taking place at the intersection of Benton Avenue and Washington Street.
While work is being performed, the sidewalk at both locations will be closed periodically and pedestrian detours will be posted. Work may also require intermittent lane closures on Washington Street and could cause traffic delays in the area. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow more time for travel.
Access to nearby businesses is not expected to be affected and businesses will remain open while the project is underway.
The project is expected to take a few weeks to complete, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances.
FYI: Remember Naperville’s first round of fall leaf collection begins on Oct. 15, too.
