204tv.org is recognized with National Award

-

Indian Prairie Unit School District 204’s online video channel, 204tv.org, earned the Golden Achievement Award from the National School Public Relations Association for exemplary public relations activity.

Indian Prairie was among only 95 school districts in the U.S. and five in Illinois to receive this prestigious award.

The video channel  was created two years ago as a way of increasing transparency with the community.

Last year, more than 8,000 videos were viewed, ranging from budget presentations to the Community Forum on Drugs.

Check it out at www.204tv.org.

Editor’s Note: PN has touted this video channel since its inception for its accessibility around the clock.

Many times parents and reporters are unable to attend meetings and the archived board meetings, budget workshops and special school events provide access on demand to view these programs.  Thank you and congratulations to the communications leaders who have made this possible in School District 204.

In PN’s view, transparency would serve all governing bodies better.  Certainly, it’s realistic to recognize that every citizen would not be interested, but the videos speak volumes for the record.

In addition, thanks also to the City of Naperville for its “archive” of meetings posted at www.naperville.il.us.
