NCHS will re-dedicate Memorial Stadium for Homecoming

-

Naperville Central High School will re-dedicate Memorial Field at 7:10PM on Fri., Sept. 21, right  before the start of the Varsity Homecoming Football game.

During the pre-game presentation, Naperville Central will begin its Homecoming game remembering those individuals to whom the field is dedicated and by honoring local veterans.

With significant field and stadium improvements completed over this past summer, the students felt a re-dedication would be appropriate at this time, noted Susan Rice, Director of Communications, Naperville Community Unit School District 203.

Veterans from Naperville are invited to line the sidelines of the field during the pre-game presentation. Veterans are to assemble along the home side ticket booth no later than 6:50 PM and take their position along the field at 7:05 PM.

A color guard from the police and fire departments will be present along with a bagpiper. The community assembled will honor those veterans who have passed with a moment of silence.

On September 22, 1950, the field was dedicated to “Naperville Service men and women of the World Wars.”

Acknowledging the rich history of the field and stadium is fitting as a week of Homecoming events culminate in the traditional Friday night football game and Saturday night dance.
