The Naperville Municipal Band’s free fall concert will be held at 3PM Sun., October 21 at Metea Valley High School, 1801 N. Eola Rd, Aurora. Metea Valley’s band will perform selected pieces and then join the Municipal Band on “Danse Macabre,” to celebrate Halloween, and “Stars and Stripes Forever,” in honor of John Philip Sousa’s birthday on November 6.

The Municipal Band also will perform pieces ranging from operatic overtures to marches. The band’s lower brass section will be featured in two musical selections. Mark Larson will perform the euphonium solo of “All Those Endearing Young Charms,” composed by Simone Mantia in 1905, who was a gifted soloist in the Sousa band. The euphonium section also will be featured in “The Melody Shop,” a march written by Karl King.

The Naperville Muncipal Band was established in 1859 and members perform while they march in Naperville’s parades from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

With the Community Concert Center in Naperville’s Central Park as its home base, the band entertains thousands of listeners every summer with its free weekly concerts on Thursday evenings, in addition to free fall, winter and spring concerts performed at locations throughout the community.
