Naperville Gardener — Come and learn with us!

-

Ever since I headed off to kindergarten, fall has meant the start of something new- new teachers, new friends and new activities.

Now, the Naperville Garden Club brings that sense of anticipation to me each fall. Our officers were installed at our May Annual Meeting, we exchanged plants at our annual plant exchange, had our flower show in June, took a couple of field trips and now it’s back to our regular schedule. Just like students, we return to a more structured life.

Our general meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of the month September through May, except for December. We meet at the White Eagle Country Club (in January we are at the Celebration! Community Life Center), with refreshments served at 8:45AM, business meeting at 9:15, followed by the program.

This year’s theme follows the quote on the cover of our new yearbook, “Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.” This Chinese proverb encourages us to be life-long learners.

Our meeting on Sept. 26 will feature a program by Diane Overgard, a certified life coach, speaking on “Planting Life’s Seeds.” As the year progresses, we will learn about planting bulbs, where to find architectural and garden antiques and how to use them in our gardens, how to make topiary and how to implement the beauty of a Japanese garden in our own gardens. These are just some of our programs and you are invited to attend and learn along with the members of the Naperville Garden Club.

Paid reservations of $13 are due five days prior to the meeting. Checks payable to the Naperville Garden Club can be mailed to Deb Tritt 4143 Royal Mews Dr., Naperville 60564-6155 or by calling (630) 717-9616.

We hope to see you at one of our meetings. Come and learn with us!
