The City of Naperville announced that William Novack, who currently serves as the City Engineer and Engineering Services Team Leader, has been named Naperville’s new Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) Business Group Director. Novack replaces former TED Director Marcie Schatz, who became the Deputy City Manager on August 20.
“Bill Novack has the right combination of skills and abilities that this position requires,” City Manager Doug Krieger said. “He’s well-known throughout the region as a leader on engineering issues. In addition, his commitment to development issues will continue to result in well-planned projects that benefit our residents and businesses and further grow our quality of life in Naperville.”
Novack has been with the City since 1992. During those two decades he has served in numerous roles, including as Senior Civil Engineer in the Design Division of the Department of Public Works until 1996, Design Engineering Manager in the Department of Transportation and Engineering until 2001 and then as City Engineer and Engineering Services Team Leader until the present day.
“I am pleased to step into a new role that helps oversee some very essential services to our City,” Novack said. “Transportation, engineering and development services impact our community’s quality of life on a daily basis. We’ve had a great tradition of being customer-focused and doing what is right for our citizens, and I look forward to continuing that tradition.”
Novack holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois. He has lived in Aurora for 18 years with his wife Karri and children Ryan, Nick, McKenna and Kailey.
Novack’s new position is effective immediately.
Editor’s Note: As City Engineer, Bill Novack especially has served the Naperville Riverwalk well as its city liaison. As Marcie Schatz and Novack move up the ladder of responsibilities, PN looks forward to another thoughtful city representative with equivalent high level of engineering, communication and thoughtful skills to serve the Riverwalk Commission and other boards that fall under the City Engineer.
