The West Suburban Irish are now accepting registrations for Scott’sWalk, a family fundraiser benefiting St. Baldrick’s Foundation and research for treatment of children’s cancer. Set up for all ages, Scott’sWalk will be begin at 9AM on Sun., Sept. 23, at DuPage River Park.
Check in and day-of registration is from 8-9PM.
Scott’sWalk is held in memory of Scott Zager, a Naperville resident who succumbed to cancer in 2008. Scott’sWalk is conducted to raise awareness of testicular cancer in young men and to support the research efforts of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The walk was started by his family, and the West Suburban Irish are pleased to support their continued efforts.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Get involved and you’ll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
DuPage River Park Sports Complex is located at the intersection of Royce Road and Washington Street in Naperville.
The cost is $25/person or $45 for a family (one or two adults and their minor children). Scott’s Walk is a distance of just more than a mile.
To register or for more information, visit www.wsirish.org or link directly to the PDF form.
Editor’s Note: This family-friendly walk for all ages (and kids in strollers, too!) has been moved from mid-summer at Elmwood Elementary School to an autumn event on Sept. 23 at DuPage River Park. Come enjoy a view of the changing seasons for a great cause.
The West Suburban Irish are the same folks who plan Naperville’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade that will celebrate 20 years in March 2013. They also host WSI Quiz Night at 7PM on the first Tuesday of every month except July and September. The next WSI Quiz Night is Oct. 2. PN is happy to lend support to this active and dedicated group.
