248th Ave. resurfacing to begin Thurs., August 16

-

Work expected to be complete by early September

The City of Naperville informs residents and motorists that resurfacing on 248th Ave. from 95th St. to 103rd St. is expected to begin Thurs., August 16. The resurfacing work will cause traffic to be reduced to one lane under the operation of flaggers for the duration of the project. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route to avoid delays along the stretch of road that is slated for completion in early September.

The City will take necessary steps to minimize any inconvenience to area residents, businesses and motorists. The public is encouraged to utilize message boards displaying up-to-date information about the project that will be placed along 248th Ave. In addition, information will be available through the “Construction Alerts” section on the homepage of the City’s website as well as www.naperville.il.us/mip.aspx.

The resurfacing project on 248th Avenue is part of the City’s annual Roadway Resurfacing Program, which includes resurfacing and reconstruction of roads in several subdivisions and a few of the City’s major roadways. This year’s program includes work in the following subdivisions: Breckenridge, Brookdale, Brush Hill, Cress Creek, In-Town East, In-Town West, Knoch Knolls, Old Farm, Old Saw Mill, Rose Hill, White Eagle and Wildflower.

All of the work included in the 2012 Roadway Resurfacing Program is slated for completion by late October.

Funded largely by state and local Motor Fuel Tax funds, Naperville’s Roadway Resurfacing Program is designed to provide the City with safe roads. Each year City roads are evaluated to determine which roads need preventative maintenance such as patching, microsurfacing and crack-filling or complete replacement of the entire street surface layer by resurfacing or reconstruction.

As with any construction project, the City of Naperville would like to remind motorists to stay alert, use caution and abide by all traffic regulations when driving through construction zones. For safe driving tips in construction zones, visit www.naperville.il.us/constructionsafety.aspx.
