About ten days ago, PN picked up its first order of the newly designed “Be ONE in a Million” Cock Robin t-shirts, a new private venture that engages the professional services of ColorBurst Screen Printing, a nonprofit, socially responsible custom screen printing business associated with Little Friends, Inc.
Since 1996, ColorBurst has provided customers with exceptional quality, service, and on-time delivery while improving the lives of people with autism and other developmental challenges. PN always will remember the first time we learned about ColorBurst more than a dozen years ago. Back then, Little Friends supporter Ray Kinney visited the enterprise to produce a video showcase of their shop. The informative video aired at Little Friends’ benefit events and on cable television to enlighten viewers.
And wouldn’t you know? Kinney was the individual who purchased the first two Cock Robin t-shirts.
Moving forward, the blue-gray slate colored shirts are now available in small, medium, large and extra-large. They’re ready for purchase at the Serendipity Resale Shop, Anderson’s Bookshop, Oswald’s Pharmacy and online on this website. How much is that Cock Robin Shirt in the window? $18.
As e-mails and phone calls with orders have followed in recent days, it’s been heartwarming, especially in the extreme heat of the summer, to listen to the cool, fond memories, wide and varied, about the popular ice cream enterprise. Cock Robin not only served triple-decker sherbet flavors on a sugar cone and double-decker steakburgers, but also provided a community meeting place for youth and families.
Recent contact also enlightened PN that many Cock Robin fans are tall— and extra-large just won’t fit their needs. The next order will include double-extra large as well as triple-extra large. Stay tuned.
With the new order in hand, ColorBurst sales consultant Maureen Reichelt expressed her gratitude, noting the order will take about two weeks to fill.
Mindful that ColorBurst offers job skills training and employment opportunities for adults with autism and other developmental challenges, good feelings were all around.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Cock Robin t-shirts will benefit Little Friends and raise awareness about the challenges of autism for transitioning adults. All profits generated by ColorBurst help to fund the range of support programs offered by Little Friends Inc.
Thanks for sending memories via the comment section of this page. PN will be keeping a log for publication soon.
