Compete on Aug. 18 to perform at ‘Singing at the Fling’ on Sept. 2

Do you have a song in your heart?

Singers of all ages are invited to participate in the “Singing at the Fling” competition as part of the Naperville Jaycees 2012 Last Fling, an annual four-day family-friendly festival that raises funds in support of  many good causes.

The preliminary competition will occur on Sat., Aug. 18 for registered singers only.

Finals will be on the Entertainment Stage at Last Fling at 9:30AM, Sunday, Sept. 2. Singers may prepare one song of up to three minutes in length, and they must provide their own music.

A panel of judges will determine  one winner per age category. Age groups are 6-12, 13-19, 20-34 and 35+. Prizes are to be determined.

Alert! The date for registration forms, originally due August 10, 2012, has been extended to Wed., Aug. 15  There is no entry fee for this featured event at the Jaycees Last Fling.

Did you know? The Naperville Jaycees is a nonprofit service organization with more than 100 young persons dedicated to providing Naperville area residents with the opportunity to better themselves and grow personally and professionally while giving back to the community through community service and fundraising efforts. Annual events include Mardi Gras, Santa Train, Loaves and Fishes Food Baskets, and countless other worthwhile projects that positively impact the community.

The group also organizes and staffs The Last Fling in close cooperation with the City of Naperville, the Naperville Park District, numerous Naperville community organizations, and hundreds of volunteers. Proceeds from the Last Fling are given to nonprofit organizations in the community and throughout DuPage County. Over the past two decades, the Naperville Jaycees raised and donated more than two million dollars to various organizations in the Naperville community. Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Judd Kendall VFW, located at 908 West Jackson Avenue.
