Due to dry weather conditions, watering trees necessary to improve new tree health
Due to the ongoing dry conditions being experienced across the area, the City of Naperville is asking residents to continue to water their parkway trees, especially newly planted trees. Giving the tree approximately 10 gallons of water per week will greatly improve the tree’s health.
In addition, in order to increase the effectiveness of emerald ash borer treatments, any ash trees that have received treatment should continue to be watered. Watering the ash trees will allow the treatment to be taken up into the tree and will improve the health of the ash trees.
Residents may use hand-held hoses at any time to water trees. Root feeders for trees are also allowed at any time. Please note that sprinkling is only permitting in the City during the hours of 6 to 10AM and 6 to 10PM. Property owners with odd-numbered street addresses may use sprinklers on odd-numbered days of the month; property owners with even-numbered street addresses may use sprinklers on even-numbered days of the month.
