KidsMatter gears up with events for youth

-

KidsMatter will host several events in the next few months designed to capture the energy and talents of local youth. PN is eager for youngsters to read all about KidsMatter and the group’s desire to “empower kids to realize endless possiblities.”

First, Timm Etters: Artist Reception and Ice Cream Social will be held from 1-3PM Tues., July 17. Local mural artist Timm Etters is creating a special exhibit representing murals in schools around Naperville for the Cafe at Whole Foods on 75th Street.

Timm Etters Banana Split-Gelato and Ice Cream Social is a chance to meet the artist while enjoying a taste of a specially made “Timm Etters Gelato” and Ice Cream.  Kids will create a Timm Etters inspired community mural on canvas.

Last Fling Skater’s Picnic!

Then during the Jaycees Last Fling, the Annual Skaters’ Picnic will be held from 11AM to 2PM Sat., Sept. 1 at Centennial Skate Park.

KidsMatter, the Naperville Police Department, and the Naperville Park District Police, in partnership with the Naperville Jaycees, will host the ninth annual free picnic and soft drinks with a Pro Skate Demo, free raffle and more for all skaters.

Centennial Beach is located at 500 W. Jackson Ave.

(Editor’s Note:  The 2012 Jaycees Last Fling runs Aug. 31 through Labor Day, Sept. 3, along Jackson Ave. toward Rotary Hill. The family-friendly festival offers much to do for young people.)
