Full closures of daily fee parking for commuters on the north side of Fourth Avenue between Loomis and Wright streets will be taking place over four days this month to accommodate maintenance that is part of the Municipal Parking Lot Improvement Project.
A full closure of the Fourth Avenue parking lot is scheduled for Thursday, July 12 and Friday, July 13. All daily fee commuter spaces in the parking lot will remain closed and will be reopened by Saturday, July 14. Motorists will be able to use the on-street daily fee commuter parking along Fourth Avenue.
The next week, a full closure of on-street daily fee commuter parking along Fourth Avenue will be scheduled for Monday, July 16 and Tuesday, July 17. The on-street parking spaces will be reopened by Wednesday, July 18. Motorists will be able to use spaces inside the Fourth Avenue commuter parking lot.
Fourth Avenue will remain open to traffic; however, residential parking on the south side of the street will be closed to accommodate equipment. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid any delays and congestion associated with the project. The City recommends commuters seek other locations for parking. A map of available parking facilities with daily fee parking can be found at www.naperville.il.us/commuterparking.aspx.
Access to residential driveways on Fourth Avenue is expected to be maintained, although brief interruptions may be necessary.
All construction is weather dependent; notice of schedule changes as well as more information about the project will be posted to the City’s website at www.naperville.il.us/commuterparking.aspx, in the City’s Commuter Connection eNewsletter, in the local media when possible and in the train stations prior to and during construction.
FYI: The Municipal Parking Lot Improvement Project includes maintenance work at 20 City-owned parking lots that range from minor work such as sidewalk replacement, curb and gutter replacement and patching to major repair work such as resurfacing and seal coating. The parking lots are located throughout Naperville and include seven fire stations, four downtown lots, six commuter lots, the Naperville Police Department, Electric Service Center and Springbrook Water Reclamation Center.
Construction on all lots is slated for completion by October 2012.
