Hands-on course to cover tips and techniques for proper heat load calculations

The City of Naperville is hosting a free residential HVAC training class for contractors in July that will give them shortcuts and tips for using software required to generate data and information necessary for residential City permit applications as of January 1, 2013.

The free class will be conducted by Elite Software and is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis to builders, contractors and architects. The class will take place from 7AM to 4PM on Wed., July 18 at the Electric Service Center, 1392 Aurora Ave. Lunch will not be provided; however, there will be a lunch break for participants. All participants are required to bring a personal laptop to the class. Those interested in participating are asked to RSVP by Wed., July 11 by calling (630) 420-6692 or emailing trujillor@naperville.il.us.

The hands-on class will provide a method for single-family builders, contractors and architects to complete and submit the ACCA Manual J, Manual S and Manual D forms, all of which will be required in residential City permit applications. The course will cover the fundamental processes of a heat load, methods of entering data in the program, short-cuts for quick load calculations and techniques for using the software. Participants will also be given a brief overview of Drawing Board, which creates a heat load while doing a drawing, Manual D Duct Size, which designs ductwork automatically and Audit for operating cost analysis.
